Now in its 82nd year, the annual Spelman-Morehouse Christmas Carol concert will kick-off the Christmas season for the metro-Atlanta community beginning on Friday, December 5. The combined glee clubs of approximately 100 singers will delight audiences with a mixture of new
and traditional favorites including “We Are Christmas” performed by the Spelman College Glee Club and written by Kevin Johnson, chair of the department of music and Sarah Stephens, C’2007. All performances begin at 8 p.m. Doors will open at
7 p.m., and large crowds are expected.
| Harry Lefever, Ph.D., professor emeritus of sociology and author of "Undaunted by the Fight: Spelman College and the Civil Rights Movement, 1957-1967," recently released a new book, "Sacred Places: A Guide to the Civil Rights Sites in Atlanta, Georgia." The guide, containing a foreword by Congressman John Lewis, has 67 photographs and descriptions of 37 civil rights sites in Atlanta as well as maps showing the location and directions to each site by MARTA or car.
